Seated Bamboo Fusion Massage

Seated Bamboo Fusion Massage is the amalgamation of Bamboo Massage and On-site massage. The concept was born by Sue Masters as a way of showcasing the Bamboo Massage to clients at shows and exhibitions; obviously we cannot ask the client to get undressed at a show! The combination of the bamboo massage on the on-site massage chair over clothes turned out to be a phenomenal success. On-site massage in itself is a fantastic treatment but the amount of pressure given still relies on the build of the client whereas the involvement of using pieces of sustainable bamboo allows the therapists to fully address the client’s needs with minimal effort and impact to themselves with the added wow factor.

History

Bamboo massage is said to originate from Asia and China and was used in a multitude of ways, ranging from musical instruments to elaborate decorations, artwork and even agricultural tools. What may seem like a new technique has ancient roots and perhaps deeper associations than simple bodywork. Bamboo is a rich source of silica, used in China for food, herbal medicine, buildings and in beauty products.

Bamboo is a sturdy versatile plant that is found in abundance throughout Asia. The plant has traditional significance in many countries; it symbolises strength of character, resilience, flexibility, honesty and simplicity.

Why bamboo?

There are more than 1,200 species of bamboo, all of them related to sugarcane and corn. Bamboo is, in fact, a giant grass: the bamboo stalk can be cut, leaving the root system intact for rapid
re-growth. This makes bamboo a highly renewable resource. In a favourable habitat, it can grow as fast as one foot in 24 hours and will grow back to full size in a few years.

What is Seated Massage (On-site Massage)?

On-site massage (OSM) incorporates traditional styles of massage including Swedish, Acupressure and Shiatsu techniques. Treatment is carried out over the client’s clothes to the back, neck, shoulders, arms, hands and scalp depending on the time allocated for each session (typically 20mins). No oil or massage medium is used therefore less preparation time is required and more relaxation time for your clients. Treatments are carried out in a specially designed, ergonomic massage chair that cradles the clients body weight, immediately putting them at ease and can be carried out anywhere including offices, shows, exhibitions, festivals, even the beach! Massage chairs are generally lightweight and easy to transport making On-site Massage quick and easy to deliver relieving back, neck and shoulder pain along with stress and tension in the client.
